Terms and Conditions
In exchange for the fees quoted, the Stalker or agents of Blackdown Stalking will, where possible, try to meet the requirements of the guest. However there is no guarantee that there will be a successful outcome to any sessions Stalking. Should the Stalker not feel confident with the abilities of the guest to shoot and dispatch quickly and cleanly, Blackdown Stalking reserves the right to terminated the session. Payment will still have to be made for Sessions used. Guests must stalk on the booked times and dates unless mutually agreed, or a fee of £25 per session will be charged to cover the lost booking. Guests will agree to follow the instructions of the Stalker whilst on any Blackdown Stalking shooting ground i.e.. Fields of fire, beast selection, safety etc. Failure to do so will result in the termination of the session. In all cases the Stalkers word will be final.
Guests responsibility
Any shoots taken will be ( in most cases) supervised by the Stalker with due concern for safety of the Public and property. However this does not negate the responsibility of the guest shooting to be satisfied that a shot when fired, is into a solid back stop with due concern for the public and property. He or she is always at liberty to refuse to shoot.
Equipment
Guests are expected to provide and equip themselves with the appropriate clothing, boots and outer wear suitable to meet any weather conditions that might be encountered in the UK. Shooters Firearms and ammunition must be suitable and legal for deer stalking. Ballistic tips or hollow nose ammo may not be used because of excessive meat damage. Spare equipment can be lent by Blackdown Stalking.
Licences, Permits and Certificates
The Guest will have his or her own sporting insurance to cover any third party accident or incident. The cover must exceed £2,000,000, third party Cover can be arranged for £5,000,000 at a cost of £15 per year if required. Guests will have valid in date Fire Arms Certificate or a visitors European Permit if using their own weapons.
Personal Safety
Whereas Blackdown Stalking will endeavour to ensure the safety of the guest or guests at all times: it must be understood that with any field sports there is always some risk of injury. Blackdown Stalking will not be held responsible for the personal injury or loss of personal possessions whilst engaged to accompany a guest stalking deer, or engaged in photography of wildlife.
High Seats and Equipment
High seats constructed by Blackdown Stalking are checked regularly for their safety. It is understood that time will be given for any Guest to check for themselves the construction to ensure that they feel confident to use a High Seat and therefore willingly do so entirely at their own risk. Blackdown Stalking will take no responsibility for any injury or accident whilst using such construction or equipment erected by Blackdown Stalking. It is understood that the guest will have satisfied him/her self that it is safe, secure and fit for use. A suitable safety belt will in some cases be provided. Guests are expected to use belts at all times whilst in a high seat. Rifles must be raised and lowered from the allocated high seat, unloaded and in a slip with a rope following normal safety and common sense procedures.
Trophy Fees
Bucks carry a Trophy Fee as indicated on the price list. A Guest can refuse to shoot a buck, however if a buck is shot, payment of a fee will be made to Blackdown Stalking and the trophy becomes the property of the shooter. Any indication the Stalker might give the Guest of weight of antler will be a guide only. In all cases the carcass is the property of Blackdown Stalking.
Lost Beasts
If a beast is wounded, no further stalking will take place until the beast has been found or the Stalker considers that it is not likely to be found. Every effort will be made which might including the use of trained deer tracking dogs.
If the beast is not recovered, a charge will be made of £30 for does. For Bucks, a fee to cover the lost meat money and trophy value.
An animal is defined as wounded when there is evidence of a hit in the form of blood, hair or skin, or in the absence of that, a visible reaction to the shot was seen by the stalker.
Medical Info.
A Guest must inform Blackdown Stalking of any pre-existing physical, mental or medical condition, prior to stalking, that might put them or any other at risk whilst stalking. In the event of a medical emergency, any costs involved will be borne by the client.
A Guest must not be under the influence of any drugs (unless prescribed by a Doctor) or alcohol whilst on a stalk.
For your information, we have a data base of names and addresses on computer. This information will not be passed to any third party.

Suitable Clothing. Cammo Style Greens in Summer, Light browns and light green in winter. Water proofs, gloves, hat.
Clothing should not be nylon or plastic as it is too noisy!

First visit- Range session Assessment £ 15
Evening Stalking followed by Morning Stalk £150
This price includes transport too and from the stalking grounds, use of quad if required etc.
Bookings will require a deposit payable to P Samways. This is by arrangement

The Weighing Formula
All heads are half cut i.e.. 3/4 eye socket unless otherwise requested.
The trophy is weighed and an allowance of 50 grams is deducted off the weight of cleaned skull. Then minus 10% of remaining trophy weight gives the net weight. The Trophy is weighed 24 hours after boiling cutting and cleaning.
Half cut trophies preparation inclusive for heads over 200 grams. If a trophy required for heads under 200 grams, £ 50 is charged for prep time.
