Your Stalkers Diary. May 2005.

What a fabulous last three weeks.

From April showers to a real dry spell here in the South West. A great time of year for change, the swallows arriving, the change from brown to green and the deer from grey to red.

Stalking has been good with many good deer sightings. Eleven in one session has been the record to date with one being the least.

All the bucks are now clean with a good mix of age groups sighted. We have had visitors from South Africa, Belgium, Portugal, and Denmark as well as our UK Guests. Cull bucks have been the order of the day with good resullts.

One Silver medal was taken only because of a badly deformed front foot which stopped him from putting it to the ground.

The Buck in the photo is certainly silver and might make gold. I took this photo from about 20 feet. Good quality and breeding stock.

Tip for today, "Don't do more than 4 sessions stalking in a row. Stalker gets grumpy through lack of sleep and eyes don't work!!!"

"Don't forget your licence to kill game" and finally "Don't leave your knife stuck in a tree or I will add it to my collection, Thanks Ian!!"

Pete.
